Ozeane können für viele von uns erst mal eines symbolisieren: Urlaub und Ferien!
Aber sie können noch mehr!

Hier befindet sich der Betrachter der Karte in einem Boot mit offenem Bullauge und fragt die kleine Meerjungfrau draußen im Wasser:
"Alles ok?" oder auch "Alles im Lot?" / "Alles senkrecht?"
Das sollte man seine Lieben von Zeit zu Zeit mal fragen!

Bei diesem Kärtchen versteckt sich auch eine mögliche Antwort im Inneren...
Der Horizont ist zwar etwas schräg, aber die See relativ ruhig. Die kleine Meerjungfrau schaut auch ganz fröhlich drein....
Wenn man noch einige aufmunternden Worte dazuschreibt, gibt die Karte dem Empfänger hoffentlich etwas Hoffnung, dass bald alles wieder "Alles im Lot" sein wird!

But they can be more!

Here the viewer of the card is in a boat with an open porthole window, asking the little mermaid outside in the water:
"Everything alright?" or "Everything vertical?"! (Hope this phrase is common in English too?!?)
We should ask our loved ones from time to time this kind of questions!

This card hides a possible answer on the inside.
The horizon is a little bit slanted, but the sea is almost calm. The little mermaid looks happy...
With some written encouraging words this card hopefully can spend some hope to the recipient. So it will be "Everything vertical" soon!

First I stamped the sailing boat and masked off the top area of my cardbase and the hull.

For this card I tried a new way to create the deep wavy ocean - I used a stencil, added the lightest colour and then moved it until I added the next (darker) ink.
But I not only repeated to colour the same area of the stencil, I then turned it upside down and did the same process again with all three colours and the same area.

I think, it's a way to get some curved wavy lines on your paper although you havn't a "classic" ocean-stencil on hand.
What do you think about this try?

I used my "Anchor" Stencil and added (only one!) anchor on the bottom of the card with VersaMark Ink. Heat embossed it two times with red embossing powder.

To finish the card I stamped the sentiment in silver ink and added a hand-drawn anchor chain to connect boat and anchor.

A-15 - Baby-Karte *Toni

Arbeiten mit Schablonen und Pasten mag ich ja sehr gerne! Inwischen werkel ich auch immer häufiger mal mit Schablonen und Farben!
Wenn es in der Firma, in der mein Mann arbeitet, etwas zu feiern gibt, werd ich oft gefragt, ob ich dafür eine große DinA5 Karten basteln kann, damit auch alle Kollegen Platz zum Unterschreiben haben...
Jetzt gab es gleich zweimal Nachwuchs (keine Geschwister)! :-)
Diese Otter-Karte hab ich für "Toni" gemacht und die kleine "Lea Tira" bekommt diese Bären-Karte.

Crafting with stencils and pastes is a big love of me! Meanwhile I started also to use stencils and just colors together!
When there is something to celebrate in the company where my husband is working, they often ask me if I could make a big card in DinA5 (21x14,8 cm) with enough space for all colleagues to sign...
Recently there were two babies born (no siblings)! :-)
This otter-card I made for "Toni" and little "Lea Tira" will get this bear-card.

Über die Karte:
Mein Mann hatte sich gewünscht, dass ich für diese Karte das Otter-Stempel-Set einweihe. Gesagt - getan! 
Klar, dass man, wenn man Otter auf die Karte bringt auch Wasser braucht! Und mein liebstes Material, um Wasser darzustellen ist nach wie vor die Embossing Paste mit Hologramm-Effect! Diesmal hab ich nicht die Paste eingefärbt, sondern erst meine Otter gestempelt und maskiert, dann den Hintergrund mit Oxide Inks und BlendingTool gestaltet und im Anschluß daran mit einer Wellen (oder eher curved lines) Stencil die glitzernde Paste aufgetragen. 
Wichtig: Man sollte die maskierten Bereiche anschließend recht zügig wieder freilegen, da sich sonst beim Trocknen unschöne Verklebungen ergeben können. Als Abschluß der Wasserfläche hab ich zwei Reihen Wellen mit einem Papierband und mit Hilfe der Stencil aufgeklebt, die untere davon mit Distress Oxide Ink und einem feuchten Pinsel eingefärbt. Sentiment heiß embosst und die Buchstaben für den Namen Toni ausgestanzt, beglittert und dann aufgeklebt. Einige gelbe Fischchen beleben die Szene noch etwas.

Zu meiner Idee für die Karte passt das "Lift the Flap" Stanzen-Set ganz wunderbar dazu! Nötig war hier nun etwas Vor-Planung, was wohin kommt, damit nachher das Bild in der geöffneten Klappe exakt zum Rest passt! Ein tolles Hilfsmittel ist da jede Art von Stempel-Positionierer!. Ich verwende die "Stamp Platform" von Tim Holtz für größere Projekte und den "Stamp perfect" von Hampton Art bei kleineren Arbeiten.
Das Ausrichten der Stencil auf genau die selbe "Wellenlänge" finde ich wichtig, damit zeigt man dem Empfänger auch, dass man sorgfältig geplant & gearbeitet hat!
Die Schritte stempeln, maskieren, inkblending und schließlich Embossing Paste auftragen sind genau gleich wie beim ersten Mal, nur dass eben nur der kleine Bereich hinter der Klappe bearbeitet werden musste.
Nachdem alles getrocknet war, hab ich nur noch meinen Otter-Teich mit 3D Tape auf der Kartenbasis befestigt.

About this card:
My husband had a wish for the card: first use of these cute otter stamps. Said and done!
Sure, when you wanna put otters onto your card, you also need some water. My always beloved material to create water is still the embossing paste with hologramm effect! This time I hadn't colored it, but I first stamped and masked the critters, then blended the background with Distress Oxide Inks and then I used a wave (or better curved lines) stencil and my sparkling paste to create the final look of the water.
Important: You should remove the masking-papers right after you finished the stencil work to avoid ugly bonding of paste and paper. To finish the surface of the water I adhered two rows of paper-ribbon with the help of the stencil, the lower one I colored with Oxide ink and a moistly brush. The sentiment is heat embossed and theletters for the name Toni were die cut and then covered with embossing paste as well. Some yellow fish spread life and happiness.

My idea for the card was perfect for the use of the "Lift the Flap" die-set. But I had to do some extra planning for positioning everything to get a seamless picture in front and behind the flap.
A stamping positioning tool is a great help here! I use the "Stamp Platform" from Tim Holtz for bigger projects and the smaller "Stamp perfect" from Hampton Art for small works.
Also the position of the stencil to the same "wavelength" is important, so you can show the recipient of the card you plan and create careful!
The steps of stamping, masking, ink blending and finally adding embossing paste are the same as beforre, only difference is the size of the area you work in, now it'S only the small area beneath the flap.
After everything was dried I put my otter lake with dimensional tape onto my cardbase.

Im Radio trällert Revolverheld "Ich lass für dich das Licht an, obwohl's mir zu hell ist / hör mit dir Platten, die ich nicht mag / ..."
Irgendwie hat's mich zu dieser Karte inspiriert! Also: Licht an - und du wirst sehen!
Eine der kleinen Krabbe ist in die Karte reingekrabbelt und sitzt nun in der linken unteren Ecke...

About this card:

There's a German song from the Group "Revolverheld" in the radio... I try to translate it for you (although it sounds more stupid then than in German): "For You I let the light on, although it's too bright for me / listen together with you to disks I don't like / ...." 
Somehow it inspired me to this card! So: Lights on - and you will see!
One of these little crabs moved into the card and is sitting in the lower left corner...

K1-779 - What's Up?

Jeder, der meine Blog schon seit einer Weile kennt wird wissen, dass ich es liebe, neue Material-Kombinationen auszuprobieren.
Eines meiner Lieblingsmaterialien dafür sind die verschiedenen Embossing-Pasten-Arten. Diesmal hab ich eine farblose, durchsichtige Paste mit einer weißen und mit meiner geliebten Hologramm Eiskristall-Paste vermischt (wichtig: nicht ganz homogen!), alles über das Aquarell-Papier mit der fixierten Schablone gegeben und verteilt. Dann hab ich etwas von dem farbintensiven Brusho Crystal Colour-Pulver über die Schablone gestäubt und sehr vorsichtig mit dem Spachtel in die Paste eingearbeitet. Fast so wie bei der Smooching-Technik, nur hab ich hier eben nicht das Papier auf der Arbeitsfläche mit Farbe bewegt, sondern die Farbe direkt auf dem Medium-bedeckten Papier.

Everybody who follows my blog for a while knows I love to try new combinations of materials.
One of my favorite is to experiment with different types of embossing pastes. This time I combined a translucent paste with a white one and with my beloved hologramm ice-crystal paste (important: not homogeneous!), spread it over the watercolor-paper and the adhered stencil. Then applied a tiny bit of the intense Brusho Crystal Colour-Powder directly onto the stencil and mixed it very carefully with the palette knife into the paste. You can describe this action also as kind of smooching-technique, instead of moving the paper over a surface with colour I moved the colour on the medium-covered paper.


Die entstandenen Effekte gefallen mir außerordentlich gut!
Die weißlichen Pasten-Bereiche sehen wie Ozean-Wellenkämme aus und die unterschiedlichen Schattierungen von Türkis und Blau wirken sehr lebendig - eben wie Wasser!
Definitiv eine Pasten-Mixtour, die ich mit anderen Farbschattierungen nochmal verwenden werde!

I love the generated effects!
The white paste-areas look like the wave crests of the ocean and the different shades of turquoise and blue look so vivid - like water!
That's a paste-mixture I'll use again with other color-combinations!

Summer, sun and yearning for vacations...
My biggest son Paul will go sailing on the "swabian sea" = Lake Constance (one of the biggest lakes of Germany, it's located between Germany, Austria and Switzerland) for some days together with my mom soon.
His pleasant anticipation was the inspiration for this card.
Translation of the sentiment: "Bis bald" = "See (or sea?) you soon".

Über diese Karte:
Zuerst habe ich die Wellen mit einem Border-Embossuing-Folder geprägt und sie anschließend mit dem Blending-Tool und DistressInks im Ombré-Stil eingefärbt. Der Glitzer-Streifen an der Wasser-Oberfläche entstand aus Doppelklebeband und Glitzer-Embossing-Pulver - nach einer Technik, die Jennifer McGuire in der OCC gezeigt hatte.
About this card:
First I embossed the waves with a border-embossing-folder and then I blended it with DistressInks in ombré-style. The glitter-line on the top of the waves I created with double-sided adhesive tape and sparkling embossing powder - used a technique Jennifer McGuire has demonstrated in the OCC.

Ich hatte wohl übersehen, dass in den Challenge-Regeln explizit nach einer Erklärung gefragt war, was denn das "Favorite" bei der gezeigten Karte genau ist.

Hmmm... jetzt hab ich das "Problem", dass ich kein "Lieblings"mensch bin! Ich habe weder ein absolutes Lieblings-Essen, noch ein Lieblings-Stempelset und schon gar keine Lieblings-Bastel-Technik oder Lieblings-Farb-Kombination. (Eine einzige Ausnahme fällt mir da ein: ich spiele Brettspiele, wann immer möglich mit gelben Spielsteinen = Lieblings-Spielfarbe.) 

Ich kann mich für so viele Dinge begeistern - Farben, Techniken, Themen... und bei Stempeln verwende ich die, die am besten zu meinem aktuellen (meist spontan entstehenden) Projekt passen. Ich habe Material von Firmen, die ich sehr sehr gerne mag und daher oft verwende (z.B. auch Create A Smile), aber ich kann da kein Lieblings-Stempelset nennen. Alle Sets, die ich besitze hab ich, weil ich sie toll fand & finde. Eventuell gibt es in den einzelnen Sets Stempel, die ich mehr oder weniger gerne mag - aber auch das schwankt bei mir je nach Laune. 

Daher kann ich mich jetzt nur nachträglich noch dafür entschuldigen, wenn ich diese wichtige Challenge-Regel missachtet habe.

K1-665 - Flaschenpost

Hintergründe mit Schablonen zu gestalten macht so viel Spaß!
Diesmal hab ich für die Wellen einen nach oben hin heller werdenden Farbverlauf verwendet.
Das "alte Papier" hab ich gleich dreimal auf der Karte verwendet: in der Flasche, als Hintergrund für den Spruch und im Inneren der Karte. So entsteht der Eindruck, die Nachricht in der Karte wäre zuvor in der Flasche gewesen...

Creating backgrounds with stencils is so much fun!
This time I used an ombre-color-effect for the waves.
The distressed paper-look I used three times on this card: in the bottle, as background for the sentiment and also in the inside of the card. - So it feels like the message inside is the one out of the bottle...

Translation of the sentiment "Post für dich" = "Happy Mail" or "You get mail".

Ideen zur Karte:
Ich habe eine Schüttel-Karte gemacht... ohne viele Schaker-Elemente - nur, um die Papierrolle in der Flasche beweglich zu machen.
Dazu hab ich die Flasche zweimal auf Vellum gestempelt, sie ausgeschnitten und dann die in sehr feine Streifen geschnittenen schwarzen 3D-Pads angebracht, Papierrolle dazwischengelegt und alles zusammengefügt.
Dann das Wasser geteilt (ja, ich kann so was auch *grins*) und die Flasche "versenkt".

Ideas behind the card:
I created a kind of shaker on this card... without lots of shaker-stuff - only to move the paper-roll inside the bottle. 
So I stamped the bottle two times on vellum, cut them out, adhered really fine stripes of black 3D-pads, placed the colored paper-roll in between and put all together.
Then I divided the water (yeah, I did it *smile*) and put the bottle "into" the water.

Haven't used them often by now, but I love the bunch of possibilities you get with them!
