K1-1427 - Joyeux Noel / Uniko Challenge #62 Reminder

Today I show you a classy christmas card in a very classical style.
The colors are red and gold, there is some sparkle, a clear design with only some little cheeky golden dots and a mighty symbol.

I didn't knew much about this symbol, so I did an online search about the heraldic lilly = Fleur de Lis and found this:
When you gift this fleur, it is a mark of respect and affection for the presentee.
But it can also symbolise the love in god and shows the own faith.

I think, it doesn't really matter, which of these meanings you favour - it's a beautiful gesture to favour someone with it - especially right now for Christmas!

The translation of the French "Joyeux Noël" is "Merry Christmas".

K1-1234 - Merry Kissmas II

Bei Create A Smile läuft seit heute die dritte Woche der #10minchristmascards (16.-22.11.). Diesmal mit dem Fokus auf DieCut = Stanzen.

:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:
:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:
In contrast to the first Kissmas-card die-cut elements are the focal point this time -the mistletoe and also the big outlined letters for the KISS.
The sentiment-area is raised a little bit and the berries of the Mistle are created dimensional with the help of Nuvo-Drops.
The red ribbon catches the eye like it did in the previous card and is also shows the colour of love...

K1-1022 - Merry Kissmas I

😘

Mistletoes and Christmas belong together for me since I was a kid!
I can remember my dad and me driving through the areas around searching for them. They needed a certain size and reachable growing places (without a ladder).
😉
The kisses beneath the mistletoes happened considerably later...  😘

:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:

My second card for today is more clean and even more abstract...

K1-1273 - grüne Weihnachten - Detail
:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:

:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:
I cut out the sentiment die-set of three different shades of green (it's also available in English: Cool Cuts: Christmas x3!) and then layered them back together:
* In the first row, there is only the frame-scrips in the brightest of my colours.
* In the second row the frame is in middle green and the fillings in light green.
* And in the third row the frame is in darker green, the filling in middle green and beneath this script ts a layer of the light green.

I stampe the word "frohe" = "merry" in front of the final places of the die cut words - also in three shades of green.
Some green sequins mix up the abstract layout a bit.

:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:
Today it's going to get a bit more christmas-like here on the blog...
My first card is made with supplies from "Create A Smile Stamps".
Instead of the globe I put the die cut out christmas tree in the holding as a symbol for a worldwide celebration - fitting to the text of the christmas song
"Fröhliche Weihnacht überall" = "Merry Christmas everywhere".
(The German sentiment has the same translation.)
:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:
Wiebke Kommerell - KomMa-designed - K1-1245
K1-1245 - fröhliche Weihnacht überall

:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:
:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:
There isn't much to tell...
The sentiment and the holding were stamped in black ink. The holding and the "floor" were coloured with watercolour crayons and then blended with a bit of water.
The tree is cut out of green cardstock. The original one was too big, so I had to cut of one segment (that was very easy, cause the segments are embossed, perfect to cut is smaller). The trunk I cut out of kraft paper and made it fit in the new place.
The embellishments of the tree are easy too: some thin golden twine wrapped around the tree and fixed with some red glitter glue-drops. As a contrast I added some tiny yellow stars.
Finally placed the tree and the card was finnished!

This is for itself already a good reason to be thankful, right?

But there are some more reasons for me, to be thankful!
Thankful for the option to live here today, where I do (a born Swabian in the federal country of Brandenburg, directly outside of Berlin).
Thankful for the fact I moved to Berlin just 20 years ago, where I met my husband some years later (also an emigrated Swabian who moved here).

Thankful for the very first coming home for Milo after an arduous start in his life and almost 7 long weeks in hospital exactly 4 years ago (our very private union)!
He was so tiny (has worn clothes just about size 42 cm!) - but so endless cute! 😍

And I commemorate my Granny Doris today, she died exactly one year ago... - Thanks for all the good years together with you!
Rest in peace, united with your beloved husband again. 💕

So many reasons for thanks - and here is a suitable little card!

The German sentiment "Danke" is "Thanks" in English.

When I started to make this card, I cut out these Bir Press Dies with many different colours and combined them to different looks. Here I added Nuvo Drops in three colours.
This fresh white Lotus-Flower on the different shades of green has a great charisma of hope and peace. Combined with the sentiment Danke = Thanks I like it very much!

K1-1416 - Detail of the doubled embossing technique

:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:
The technique I used for this card I've seen some weeks before in a YouTube video of Jennifer McGuire. She called it "embossed impressions" I think.
It was a bit tricky and needed some tries until I was almost happy with the result, but these heat embossed thin lines on the die-embossed paper look great, don't they?
Yes, you read it correct!
First I impressed the paper with a cutting die (and a silicone matte) with VersaMark on the cutting-edges (just there and nowhere else!), then I put embossing powder over it and heat embossed this to melt into the impressed lines. How cool is this?

For my card I used a left-over colourful mix of embossing powders (all from Zing!) I also heat embossed the sentiment and some little punched circles with the same powder.
To get a bit of "real" colour I put a strip of red paper beneath the cut out sentiment and cut it again.

I combined rough and smooth papers, white and (very) colourful pieces, outlined flowers and a bold sentiment, impressed areas and raised ones, glossy dots and matte paper ...
So many contraries but in the result it is a simple and unagitated (stress-free) CAS card!

:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:
Today I finally post a card again!
The base I created during the last Online Card classes - Spring Card Camp, but I just find time to finish the card now.
The translation of the German sentiment "Wer schön sein will muss Lächeln" is "Who wants to be beautiful, has to smile"!
The sentiment combined with rainbow-colours and butterflies - all together in a CAS style - I'm absolutly happy with this result!

The background beneath the front-layer is made with Distress Oxide Inks and an iridescent embossing paste. I scored the paper with lines and then diecut the letters and just used the negative part to cover this colourful paper, so the open areas of the letters shine bright in rainbow coloursthrough the open shapes!
From a rainbow strip I cut off I punched out all the small butterflies and adhered them adjacent to the letters. On a piece of white cardstock I stamped the sentiment and fussycut it out and adhered it to the card.

K1-1364 - beautiful wreath / Uniko Challenge #59

It's time for a new Challenge on the Uniko Blog! This time you can create almost anything, cause it's an Anything Goes. But when you like to be inspired a bit more, you can also use the optional Twist of "bright and happy".

Flowers always light up my days, so I used some stamped and die cut pink "Kindness Blooms" and a selfmade wreath for my inspirational card.
A little bit of something speacial I added with the pearls in the center of the flowers and the splattered background.

What makes your days bright and happy - right now in this difficult time?

K1-1384, K1-1385, K1-1386, K1-1387 / Uniko - Brand Ambassador Post

Today I have my Brand Ambassador post on the Uniko Blog!

It's a happy and colourful post to brighten your day!
I made this bunch of clean and simple cards in a really short time! How I did it? By using all the "left overs" to create second cards!

The materials for all four cards are similar:
  • a self made rainbow-colour paper
made of multimedia paper (it doesn't warp as much as normal cardstock when it get's wet) & Ranger Distress Oxide Inks (and a blending brush or tool) & a clear iridescent embossing paste (just added a thin layer with a palette knife)
To create this paper you'll need a bit of time, but below I have some alternative ideas!
  • the Big & Bold Happy Dies
  • fitting stamps - I used Big & Bold Happy, Happy Days and bee Happy (guess why! 😉)
:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:

To avoid lots of glue-time for the thin areas I used adhesive sheets, but needed a bit of glue here and there anyway!

For the first two cards I cut out the bigger "shadow" word of my sparkling paper first, then placed the smaller die on this hello and cut again to create the thin edge of the word. - This was the difficult part - to line it up exactly for an even edge!
But with the help of some low-tack painters tape (I used the pink one from Tesa) it wasn't a real problem!

The rest was easy!
To adhere the thin layer in the original shape and without wonky lines I used the other one as guide before I adhered it on a second cardbase.
All sentiments were stamped in black ink. I love to use my stamping tool for these jobs! - You can position all the stamps perfectly with the gridlines on the lid and you can stamp twice for a perfect black impression without any problems of missplacing!

The black lines of the box are drawn with a thin black marker and a T-ruler.
The small butterflies I punched out of the scraps of the sparkling paper and placed them as a fluttering crowd above the word die cut.

 :-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:
Here on the next picture you can see in the reflection, how much sparkle is on this selfmade paper! (It's always hard for me to catch this with a camera.)

For the second two cards I directly cut out the smaller die of the sparkling paper.
On the cardbase I brushed the same colours I used before to create the sparkling paper, but with a lighter hand for a softer, less intense shading.
The more intense happy on a white shadow paper I placed there, added the two sentiment-parts and the card was finished!

The last card is made of the leftover again. I cut out the "frame" with a knife and a metallic ruler, rounded the corners by hand and adhered it on the cardbase.
This time I used the cute bee insted of a sentiment - just as a "be(e) happy".

:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:
Hope you like this idea of making quick'n'easy cards!

Some more ideas to stretch this technique:

You needn't use a selfmade sparkling rainbow-paper.
You can also use
  • a patterned paper or
  • a monochromatic shading
  • a paper with or without sparkling
  • ...
When you havn't a iridescent embossing paste, use
  • a sparkling embossing powder
  • a sparkling spray (maybe selfmade with some mica powder)
  • a thin layer of glitter glue or glossy accents (maybe with some glitter?)
  • ...
When you don't want to make "happy" cards, use one of the other Uniko Big & Bold die sets!
"wish" or "snow".
:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:

Thanks for looking by today!   💓💛💚💙💜
Have a great and creative time and be happy!

:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:
I'm still inspired by the videos of the "OCC Spring Card Camp1" although the second class started one week ago! I defititly NEED more free time for crafting!
But two of four kids still have to stay at home and want or need to be teached or entertained most of the time - until the other both come back home (the short-schooldays they have in schools right now can be felt as really short!)

K1-1314 - Namaste

I barely can believe it, but I made too many cards in short time again!

The inspiration of the OCC Spring Card Camp made me super creative. Combined with the mixed weather of the last few days and the still valid suggestion of staying at home I had some super productive days!

I will try to post most of them, to be able to upload them to the OCC-galleries,
But the post will be "half-done"...the supplies and some more information about every card will be updated as soon as I find time to write them. Please be a bit patient with me -  when you have questions to one of the cards, write a little comment, and I will update this post earlier!

Smooshing techniques work with any kind of waterbased colours... also with Brusho Powders!
