K1-1574 - Thinking Cogs / UNIKO BA-Inspiration

:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:

Today there is a new post from me on the UNIKO-Blog!
I present three different cards with grid pattern in the background - something male, female and for different occasions.

The first one is a male one - in the choice of the motive as well as in the choice of the colours.

K1-1272 - abstrakter Oh Tannenbaum

Heute startet die neue Challenge bei Challenge Up Your Life!

:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:

Today the new Challenge on the Challenge Up Your Life goes alive!
As GuestDesigner I invite you to be inspired by the DesignTeam and to participate!

It seems as I'm still stuck in the Christmas mood - or just jumped in again! At least there are less than 11 months left until we celebrate the big ceremony again!
Once I resolved to start earlier in the year - not be delayed until November, cause there are never enough cards left in the end...
Why not start now, with a fitting Challenge, and with cold weather outside for an easy mood-based crafting session?

So I show you two abstract christmas tree cards which are made in no time at all!
I used a printed Kraftpaper, cut out different sizes of "firs" and adhered them in a dimensional order, the two in the front with decent 1 mm pads. The biggest and most splendid one I decorated with a gimmer brush marker and I framed the card with a hand-drawn scribble line. I think this line loosens the strict geometry of the trees a bit. Therefor I resigned for all other embellishments like sequins or other stuff.

The sentiment is from a German Christmas Carol. The translation is "Oh Christmas Tree".

The first card you find here.

K1-1427 - Joyeux Noel / Uniko Challenge #62 Reminder

Today I show you a classy christmas card in a very classical style.
The colors are red and gold, there is some sparkle, a clear design with only some little cheeky golden dots and a mighty symbol.

I didn't knew much about this symbol, so I did an online search about the heraldic lilly = Fleur de Lis and found this:
When you gift this fleur, it is a mark of respect and affection for the presentee.
But it can also symbolise the love in god and shows the own faith.

I think, it doesn't really matter, which of these meanings you favour - it's a beautiful gesture to favour someone with it - especially right now for Christmas!

The translation of the French "Joyeux Noël" is "Merry Christmas".

K1-1317 - 29 again?
This is an almost black'n'white OLC card, with just a bit of silver lining and sparkle.
I free-hand-doodled more or less straight lines with black markers in different sizes and a silver rollerball in the fields. To make the image fit to the sentiment, I added an extra line to create a 29th field (in the center of the right area).

I think, this card is perfect for a male bithday, for someone who keeps staying young at heart (although the ID card suggests something different...).

K1-1316 - Happy Birthday / Uniko-Intro Day 1-I

Introducing the New Uniko February Release:
:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:
I made a one layer birthday card.
K1-1316 - Happy Birthday

The pattern of this new Background Block reminds me of stained glass and mosaics.  There is no concrete image to see, but you can imagine it's a detail of a big window for example...
So I coloured the fields in intense coloures to make them pop out.

K1-1261 - Folk-Snowflake Background - Detail
:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:
The steps to create a card like this one are so easy and they don't need lots of time!
  • Create an easy and colourful background paper with two or three alcohol inks and the smooshing technique.
Pep it up with a bit of additional ink ot blending solution (splatters ot brush strokes).
  • Take your Christmas Folk Snowflake Stencil and trace all edges with a fine marker. Work slow and careful to get a good result!
  • Cut this paper, have an eye on the pattern (there are different possibilities).
  • Adhere the paper on a fitting coloured paper and these two layers on your card base or adhere your paper directly on the card front.
  • Stamp the sentiment three times in different colours or techniques. In my case I stamped them in Distress Oxide Inks, picked raspberry and abandoned coral (mixed them on the stamp). The first one I just let as it was, the second one I covered with a clear star gelly roll pencil and the third one I heat embossed with fine clear powder.
  • I cut out 1/4 of one snowflake / star of the background pattern and put it on the sentiment layer.
Adhere this sentiment layer with 3D pads on the front. It's extra eye catching when you insert the little cut out piece in the original background pattern - same position of the elements!
  • If you want, you can embellish the card with some glitter or enamel doots, rhinestones, pearls or sequins. But don't do too much, sometimes less is more when you have a busy background!

K1-1176 - Emboss Resist - Hallo

K1-1176 - Emboss Resist - Hallo - Detail

After I've won the Challenge#37 on the Cards und More Blog I was invited to participate as GuestDesigner for the new Challenge #39 which starts today! Wohoo! 😊

I crafted three cards with this fabulous colour-combination!

UPDATE 12.08.2019:

😢 Something went very strange and it seems like it wasn't possible to enter my picture(s) to the Cards und More Challenge-post... 😭 😶 Not until today (Monday)!
I just crossed the text above out, maybe the problem will be fixed, then I can re-change this messages...
😞
Cards und More #39 AG + Colorboard
Hier die dritte Karte:
K1-1176 - Emboss Resist - Hallo
K1-1176 - Emboss Resist - Hallo
:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:

I started with white paper.
First I applied the Oxide Inks with the smooshing technique onto my paper.
Then I used the stencil with the embossing ink and added clear powder to emboss it. Then I replaced the (cleaned!) stencil in different direction and added more colour with my blending tools. Cleaned the stencil and added embossing ink again. Heat ambossed two times with clear powder.

The next step is hard, every time I use this technique! I applied the black ink directly with the black ink pad on the whole panel!

After I removed the excess colour with a towel I got still black fingers... so I added a thin layer of MicroGlaze. Now it's perfect!

The rest was easy peasy: diecut the hexagone, put a piece of vellum behind and adhere the fine vellum-frame. Also diecut the sentiment, colour and heat emboss it, layer it and glue it on the hexagone.
I put a layer of light gray paper between my cardbase and the front layer. To get a clear vellum hexanone, I cut a bigger hexagone out of this gray paper, then adhered it flat onto my cardbase. The front is adhered with 3D tape.

K1-1059 - Life with passion / Uniko-Challenge

K1-1059 - Life with passion

Time is running!
It's already two weeks since we started the July/August 2019 Challenge on the Uniko Blog! So it's time to write a little reminder for you - just in case you havn't played there yet!

The wonderfully popular theme for this Challenge is FLOWERS
If you want, you can add the optional twist of DIE CUT to your design.

To keep in mind the Challenge Guidelines:
  • You can use any products/stamps to enter the challenge, but we do LOVE to see you use your Uniko products. Plus, there is an extra chance to win a prize if you do ;)
  • Email entries are welcome, just email a photo of your card to bev@uniko.co.uk and she will add it to the Uniko Flickr gallery and link up!
  • Please share the challenge graphic in your post and link back to the challenge.

I also have some details of the possible PRIZES:
  • Main Winner Chosen By the DT - £25 eGift Certificate
  • Random Twist Winner - £5 In Stock Clear Stamp Set of Winners Choosing
  • Random Uniko Stamps Winner - £5 In Stock Clear Stamp Set of Winners Choosing
  • Top 3 Chosen By DT - 150 Loyalty Reward Points
You've got plenty of time to play along with this month's challenge - another three weeks.
The deadline for submission is midnight (GMT) on Friday 23rd August 2019.

:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:
I created a CAS card with some abstract fun-coloured flowers.
Unfortunately I havn't a Banner-Die in the size of my sentiment, so I skipped the optional twist and cut it with a ruler and a craft-knife (maybe a bit old-fashioned, but this is always working!).

K1-1059 - Life with passion - Detail
:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:-:
The steps to create a card like this one are so easy and quick done!
  • I stamped the big orange halos with Versamark and added the embossing powder, then melted it.
  • I stamped the sentiment and the little flowers also with Versamark, melted them and cut them out.
  • Covered the flowers with masking paper, and stamped the pinstripe with black ink. A stamping tool is a big help here, if the first impression isn't as settled as you want i - you can easily stamp again on the same spot.
  • Adheres the little flowers flat on the striped background in between the bigger flowers.
Folded the banner and adhered it with dimensional foam tape on the card.
  • To give the glowers a little bit of special extra I added Nuvo Drops to their centers.
